Inspiration

We believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God in all matters that it touches, including science and history. It is inspired in the whole and its parts and is the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice. Moreover, the biblical canon is complete.

God

We believe there is but one God, the Creator, Preserver and Ruler of all things, having in and of Himself, all perfections, and being infinite in them all; and to Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience.

We believe that in the beginning He created all things from nothing.

We believe God is revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, commonly called the Trinity, each with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence or being.

Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 5:48; 28:19; John 1:1

God the Father

We believe that God as Father from eternity. He decrees or permits all things that come to pass, and perpetually upholds, directs and governs all creatures and all events; yet so as not in any wise to be the author or approver of sin.

God the Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is fully human and fully God. He as the spotless sacrifice was crucified, was buried, was raised from the dead, and ascended to heaven where He is exalted at the right hand of God.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is eternal and fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Today He illuminates men to understand the truth of Scripture. He is active to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He effects salvation. He indwells, encourages, and empowers the believer. He seals the believer in order to assure the believer’s salvation.

Man

We believe God created man in His own image, free from sin, and a free moral agent. Moreover, God created male and female, equal but having different attributes, purpose, and calling. Through the temptation of Satan, man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original holiness and righteousness; whereby his posterity inherit a nature corrupt and wholly opposed to God and His law, are under condemnation, and as soon as they are capable of moral action, become actual transgressors.

Salvation

We believe in God’s sovereign design in election, drawing unto Himself those He saves according to the good pleasure of His will.

We believe that Christ died for man’s sins. This sacrifice was vicarious and substitutionary; it is efficacious for all who believe. Contrariwise, there is no salvation for man apart from personal faith in Christ.

We believe regeneration, or the new birth, is the work of God’s grace to bring about a change in one’s heart. The agent of this transformation is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit brings conviction and the sinner responds in repentance and faith.

We believe repentance is the turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and the commitment to Him as Lord and Savior.

We believe justification is a judicial term to express the concept that upon the believer’s faith in Christ he is “declared righteous.”

We believe sanctification begins at the point of salvation when the believer is set apart to the purposes of God. From the point of being set apart, the believer is enabled to progress or grow in Christ through the continuing work of the indwelling Spirit.

We believe glorification is the final state of the believer. It is the blessed, eternal state.

Church

We believe that the church is an autonomous, local congregation of baptized believers whose purpose is to carry out the Great Commission. The church is also called the body of Christ and its head is Jesus Christ.

We believe the church is also spoken of as an institution with universal aspects.

We believe baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus, wherein the believer is immersed in water in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, as a sign of his fellowship with the death and resurrection of Christ, of remission of sins, and to live and walk in newness of life.

We believe the Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of Jesus Christ, to be administered with the elements of bread and the fruit of the vine, and to be observed by His churches till the end of the world. It is in no sense a sacrifice, but is designed to commemorate His death, and to be a renewal of the believer’s communion with Him, and of their church fellowship.

We believe that to each local church God has given needful authority for administering order, discipline and worship which He appointed. Both men and women serve the church. The offices of pastor and elders are reserved to men. The offices of the church are elders and deacons.

Last Things

At the time of God’s choosing, He will bring the world to its appropriate end. Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly. The dead will be resurrected and judged: the just for eternal reward and the unjust for everlasting judgment. The just in their glorified bodies will dwell forever in heaven. The unjust will suffer the everlasting judgment of hell.
